Peugeot L500 R Hybrid Racing Concept
At this point it can’t be too surprising that even the oldest car makers are getting into the world of high performance electric vehicles. For one, batteries instead of fuel mean unreal sprint times, and secondly, staying on the cutting edge of technology is do or die in a sport where half a second can mean all the difference in the world. Peugeot’s all new hybrid racing concept, the L500 R embraces the future while paying homage to the past.
Released as a tribute to the car company’s win at the Indy 500 in 1916, this concept reinterprets the original ‘L45’ car that took home the gold. That vehicle boasted a top speed of 85 miles per hour, while this L500 R hybrid concept would reach 62 miles per hour in just 2.5 seconds thanks to two electric motors and a 270 horsepower gas engine that can turn out up to 538 pound feet of torque. In addition to all of this tech under the hood, the concept features an ultra wide stance and low profile for taking corners incredibly fast. Step inside this vehicle and you’ll find a small steering wheel, an aggressive fighter-jet cockpit seat, and all the information you need on two separate holograms.
