JW Anderson & Persol Built Collab Sunglasses Using Recycled Acetate

Between its star-studded representation and its rich brand history, Persol has really never needed to work with others in order to sell its sunglasses. As such, the Italian eyewear giant has proven pretty particular about which names get a place on the arms of its iconic silhouettes, making its latest joint effort with JW Anderson that much more significant.

The collaboration comes in the form of a capsule collection based around the original 649 and the four-lensed 0009. Done up in a range of vibrant colorways, each piece comes inspired by JW Anderson founder Jonathan Anderson’s fascination with the Balearic Islands. Moreover, because Anderson felt that sustainability was integral to the collaboration, both pairs of shades are crafted using recycled acetate offcuts from Persol’s production chain. In addition to being more environmentally friendly, it’s also allowed for a truly unique aesthetic, with the 649 boasting a one-of-a-kind blended effect and the 0009 an eye-catching two-tone contrast. Whether this is the first in a series of future partnerships remains to be seen, but you can buy the sunglasses now starting at $361.
