Persol is no stranger to the community spotlight whenever it releases a newly-contrived silhouette. But today, the announcement of their most recent project has left eyewear’s biggest names in shock and awe, revealing that, for the first time in Persol’s centurial history, a collaboration with the revered French fashion house, A.P.C., has been formulated behind closed doors.
The Persol x A.P.C. partnership hinges on one of the eyewear brand’s most prolific silhouettes, the 649. Released in 1957 as a fashionable essential for Italy’s tram operators, the rounded example took the style world by surprise, becoming an iconic variant that would help to further propel Persol’s promising catalog into the spotlight. Now, the 649 has been revised for a new generation, calling upon a seemingly identical orientation, acetate frame, and gradient lenses to solicit the same handsome persona it did over half a century ago. Head to the company’s website — where the Original 649 A.P.C. is available in White, Brown Transparent, and Green Transparent — to pick up a pair of your own for $370.
