For whiskey lovers, Pappy Van Winkle is the pinnacle of any drinking experience. It’s a revered spirit, known throughout the drinking world for a precise distillation and aging method that results in a bourbon better suited for royalty. Now, a new release is in order from Old Pappy Van Winkle Distillery. Aptly named Old Rip Van Winkle 25 year, it’s a 50% ABV dream of a bourbon, set for release later this spring.
Originating from only eleven barrels distilled at Stitzel-Weller distillery in 1989, this batch of joy was then moved to Buffalo Trace distillery’s warehouse in 2002 where it rested again until 2014 when it was transferred to stainless steel barrels as to prevent over-aging. From here, only 710 handmade glass bottles from the Glencairn Crystal Studio were filled with this 25-year bourbon. It’s then housed within a custom-made wooden box made from the exact barrels where the whiskey peacefully rested for 25 years. The suggested retail price hovers around the $1,800 mark, but we feel that price is a fraction of what the bourbon will actually sell for. Good luck.
