Standardizing the size of shipping containers in the late 1970s and early 1980s changed the shipping and trucking industry forever. Using containers that could be moved from container ships to trucks made the entire industry more efficient and saved a huge amount of labor, but shipping containers changed more than just the transportation industry. Since they were first introduced, people have re-purposed these containers for everything from offices, to complete houses.

The Pandora Modular container cabinet, by designer and artist Sander Mulder, takes the aesthetic and modular capabilities of the shipping container and scales it down for everyday home use. You can stack these steel cabinets, throw them on wheels, or get a completely custom cabinet. They come in either black, traffic white, or orange, and start at around $1,300. [Purchase]
