Panasonic Teams Up With Square Enix For A Wearable Gaming Speaker System

Video games are becoming more and more immersive all the time thanks to technologies like virtual reality and haptic feedback, but one aspect of gaming whose immersive capabilities are often lagging is audio. Panasonic is looking to change that, and they’ve teamed up with Square Enix to do it.

The electronics giant enlisted the sound team from Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XIV Online game to help create the SC-GN01 Wearable Gaming Speaker System. The ergonomic device is worn on your shoulders, eliminating the ear fatigue associated with headphones and earbuds. The device features 4-channel full-range speakers that offer immersive surround sound, allowing the wearer to feel as if they’re truly in the game. The Final Fantasy team was responsible for crafting the system’s three distinct game modes — Role-Playing Game mode, First-Person Shooter mode, and Voice mode — allowing gamers to tailor their experience to the type of game they’re playing. There’s also a built-in noise and echo canceling dual microphone for crystal clear in-game comms. The Panasonic SC-GN01 will be available this September exclusively through Amazon.
