Certain activities simply require a lot of space. It isn’t impossible, but it’s tough to be a big ATV enthusiast and live in a high-rise apartment, for example. The same applies for kayaking – those vessels are often over 10 feet long, requiring a good deal of storage space. The folks at Pakayak are looking to change that dynamic with their brand new Bluefin 14.
Like a Russian nesting doll, this thing can fit snugly into itself for easy storage in your small apartment or for accessing a hard to reach body of water. Weighing in at 55 pounds, it is by no means light, but its compact design makes it much more packable than lighter kayaks. Once you get to the river or lake assembly takes no longer than five minutes. Despite being so easy to snap together, the Bluefin 14 is precision engineered so as not to take on any water. This concept has been labored over by a small team for up to four years and they made sure not to skimp on any details. Pakayak’s flagship vessel includes foot braces, bungee rigging, and reflective safety lines. When the Bluefin 14 launches on Kickstarter next week, it’ll be retailing for around $1,695. [Purchase]
