Ooni’s Karu 16 Has The Backing Of The ‘True Neapolitan Pizza Association’

If you’re in the market for a home pizza oven, Ooni was probably already on your radar, as they make design-forward ovens that also churn out incredible pies. But the company’s latest offering is taking things to the next level, as it’s the first home pizza oven in the world to be approved by Italy’s True Neapolitan Pizza Association (AVPN).

What does that mean, exactly? The AVPN travels the world to test whether pizza ovens measure up to the strict standards for producing true Neapolitan pizza. Until now, they had never approved a home pizza oven, but the Karu 16 is no ordinary oven. The versatile oven can cook up to 16” pizzas using wood or charcoal out of the box, or even gas using the optional gas burner. The oven reaches 950°F in just 15 minutes (cooking your pizza in just 60 seconds), and it’s easy to keep track of the temperature with the mounted digital thermometer. It also sports Ooni’s trademark design language, with the addition of a new hinged oven door design with ViewFlame technology for better visibility of your flaming pie. The Karu 16 is available to pre-order now from Ooni for $799, with the first units shipping this fall.
