Ontario SP8 Survival Machete

Ontario is a brand perhaps most well known for their Rat folding knife. Or at least that’s the case in the EDC community. But to relegate them to a single item would be a drastic oversight, as they have some other very impressive gear. Take, for example, their SP8 Survival Machete. This unique blade, which looks like it might be wielded by some sort of laser viking, is an incredibly versatile bushcraft tool.

Made from extremely corrosion resistant 1095 carbon steel, this 10″ blade is built for heavy outdoor usage. The handle is made from a highly durable Kraton polymer and features finger grooves for a secure grip. It also has a lanyard hole through which one might paracord for attachment to a bag or emergency use. The jimping on the back of the blade can also function as saw teeth for wood gathering. And the flat tip is an excellent chisel or can be used for boring holes. It also comes with a leather cordura sheath for safe storage. This excellent do-it-all 22.8 ounce blade retails for $57.
