On & Roger Federer Team Up On A 1,000-Unit Tennis-Inspired Sneaker

Seven months ago, On Running and professional tennis player Roger Federer announced that they’d be collaborating on a new sneaker; one tailor-made for purposeful, on-court use. Fast forward to the present day, and the pair’s ‘ROGER’ has finally been unveiled for the first time. As you might expect, it’s subtle, classic, and inherently ambitious.

When Federer joined forces with On Running for the signature shoe, he set out to create something that would serve as a contemporary foundation for the future — a piece of footwear that would inspire upcoming generations and act as a catalyst for the sport’s style-inspired variants. Over time, the sneaker shifted its focus from the court, becoming a hybridization of the genre’s sport-savvy examples and their more aesthetically-inclined counterparts. A quick glance will give you a subtle understanding of what makes the ROGER so special. It draws inspiration from the 1970s’ most prominent on-court variants while integrating cutting-edge technology like On’s CloudTec® sole unit, Speedboard®, and premium vegan leather, resulting in, what On claims to be, the lightest tennis-focused shoe on the market today. It’s also ultra-limited, with only 1,000 individually-numbered examples emerging during the sneaker’s first run. Head to On Running’s website to enter a raffle for the ROGER before July 8.
