Omega Speedy Tuesday Limited Edition Watch

Omega, the watch makers famous for outfitting the astronauts of NASA’s Apollo 11 mission to the moon, is a brand rife with history. And their constant dedication to their craft is a testament to the respect they have for said history. That being said, their dedication to the past doesn’t necessarily mean that they aren’t looking forward to the future – a sentiment they appear to be proving with their latest watch release. The “Speedy Tuesday,” the newest entry in the brand’s famous line of Speedmaster watches, pays homage to – believe it or not – a hashtag.

Since it was started in 2012, #SpeedyTuesday has been a means by which fans of the Omega Speedmaster could show their dedication and appreciation for the well-crafted timepieces. And Omega has clearly taken that to heart. This newest offering takes some of the brand’s most popular style points – like a “Reverse Panda” dial color scheme, a bezel ring and tachymeter scale, and luminous marking – and pared them into a single watch. It’s powered by their hand-wound calibre 1861, a movement which is almost exactly the same (but for a high-grade rhodium-plated finish) as the ones the astronauts took to the moon. And each individually numbered watch (of which only 2,012 are being made) comes with both an all leather band and a black and white NATO strap. The $6,500 timepiece completely sold out in just over 4 hours. [Purchase]
