The 1970s were renowned for their progressive nature, and NASA’s space-faring missions were no exception. Of course, neither were OMEGA’s reputable watches. Among these tasteful, time-tested models, the Speedmaster was lauded for its pivotal role in the Apollo 13 mission, earning it the distinguished “Silver Snoopy Award” in 1970. Now, 50 years later, the brand is celebrating this legendary milestone with an homage to the original.
The OMEGA Speedmaster “Silver Snoopy Award” Anniversary Watch arrives as a prestigious model that celebrates the outfit’s unique contributions to space exploration. Its beautifully-machined exterior is defined by a 42-millimeter stainless-steel case inspired by the chronograph’s 4th generation model. Dive deeper, and you’ll find a unique dial embellished with an embossed silver medallion, a spacesuit-wearing Snoopy, and a laser-engraved Ag925. But what makes the anniversary edition so special is its animated caseback, which features a rotating earth disc, a Command and Service Module (CSM) Snoopy (mounted on a “magic” hand), and a Moon that’s been decorated using a unique micro-structured metallization technique. The watch is slated for release in October and will cost $9,600.
