Old School Bus Converted Into Mobile Home

We are constantly covering mobile homes that are built for the great outdoors, but this is the first time we’ve ever seen anything like this. Architecture student Hank Buititta rounded up some buddies, and decided to transform an old school bus into a fully livable mobile home.

Getting creative for this thesis project at the University of Minnesota, Butitta was determined to steer away from the typical renderings, and tackle a practical project. Teaming up with his friends, the crew hit up Craigslist to purchase an old school bus. The massive bus was fully gutted, and built-out with a completely custom interior that includes an entirely modular living environment complete with a kitchen, bathroom, several beds, storage for gear, and floors that were built using old wood from gymnasium floors. Of course seeing that it’s a bus, there’s plenty of natural light illuminating the “residence.” After completing the project, Butitta has already toured the U.S. on a 5,000 mile trip, and continues his tour at HankBoughtABus. This is the motivation we needed to tackle a new summer project. Check out the video below.
