Both Oceanco and Lateral Naval Architects are well-versed names in the superyacht industry, with numerous high-profile mega-vessels under their respective belts. Though for their latest project, the two renowned shipbuilders have joined forces, teaming up together and bringing in legendary Italian design house, Pininfarina to deliver a sleek and modern superyacht christened the KAIROS.
Powered by a hybrid propulsion system, the KAIROS was designed from the ground up to lend a completely unique Megayachting experience. This was achieved by constructing the superstructure around an open “piazza” that bestows the ship’s side profile with negative space and provides a massive open area with glass ceilings that allow the above floors to be viewed from the bottom (or vice versa). Both the piazza itself, and the surrounding lounges, cabins, and other accommodations could all easily pass for boutique on-land hotels — a trait that was accomplished through the use of virtual and augmented reality headsets that enabled the designers to place themselves inside the interior of the vessel.
