Ocean Kitchen Aquarium Island

There’s something very meta (or chilling) about sautéing a salmon filet on top of a massive fish tank, but even if you don’t want to taunt your pets with that bit of irony, the limited edition Ocean Kitchen from Dutch designer Robert Kolenik offers a multitude of mind-bending benefits.

Kolenik says the magnificent aquarium island installs beneath a kitchen countertop, and despite what would seem to be tricky logistics, apparently none of the cooking or food prep functionality is affected. Precise mechanical installations allow the aquarium’s top portion to raise up and lower at the press of a button, and since it’s in the form of an L-shape, there’s still plenty of room for your standard amount of drawers and cabinets.
