Oakley has a long history of making innovative shield-shaped sports sunglasses that begins with the Eyeshade back in 1984. Since that time, the design has spawned a number of similar silhouettes, with the California-based optics specialist tweaking the shape, updating the lens technology, and removing frame components to ensure that they’re able to meet the demands of today’s athletes.
With the launch of the ‘Kato,’ Oakley has created a pair of frameless shades that are truly unlike any other. That’s because they feature a state-of-the-art contoured lens that wraps closely around your face to create an almost mask-like feel. And that’s not all; in order to ensure that the fit is on point, Oakley has given the Kato a set of O Matter stems, complete with an adjustable rake system as well as a series of differently sized Unobtanium nose pads. Oh, and like all of the brand’s high-end eyewear, they’re available with color-enhancing Prizm lenses. You can buy them now in Black, Road, and Sapphire for $291.
