In 1939, Barbour developed its Ursula Suit at the request of the British submarine officer Captain George Phillips. It featured a waterproofed construction far superior to anything of the time and would later become a famous piece of mil-spec gear. Some twenty years later, Barbour released the Game Fair Jacket, a model that has since become one of the British brand’s most renowned country garments.
Taking inspiration from these two revolutionary clothing items, Copenhagen-based Norse Projects has partnered with Barbour to release its Autumn/Winter collection. The outerwear headlines the collaboration, with modern takes on Barbour’s heritage pieces, including the Ursula Wax and the North Sea Parka. The former is an ode to the Ursula Suit, sporting a waxed cotton construction with an insulated Thermore lining. Similarly, the North Sea Parka is a modern reimagining of the Game Fair, with a longer cut, a lightweight wax finish, and some corduroy trim. In addition to these two centerpieces, Norse Projects and Barbour have worked together on a slew of knitwear, t-shirts, accessories, and footwear to round out the rest of the collection. You can find the Norse Projects x Barbour collaboration on the Norse Projects web store and at select stockists.
