After previously coming together for a limited edition military-inspired hiking boot in late 2018, Japanese streetwear outfit, nonnative has once again joined forces with Japanese activewear brand, ASICS to deliver an updated and upgraded CLAY-spec version of its SportStyle GEL-YETI TOKYO HI G-TX boot.
Now offered in a black-on-black scheme or in a new beige version, the CLAY boot has been outfitted with ultra-premium, breathable, and waterproof GORE-TEX suede uppers and a revised lacing setup with additional eyelets and a loop replacing the 2018 shoe’s heel drawcord, allowing the laces to be fully wrapped around the back of the boot, a la traditional combat boots. Embossed nonnative, ASICS, and GTX branding also adorn the new CLAY variant. Though somewhat subtle, the changes collectively make for a more high-performance piece of footwear that doesn’t compromise its predecessor’s unique and fashion-forward appearance. The nonnative x ASICS SportStyle GEL-YETI TOKYO HI G-TX CLAY is scheduled for a global release on December 19, 2020, where it will be available at select retailers for approximately $212.
