Nokia’s 5710 XpressAudio Phone Houses Built-in Wireless Earbuds

Long before the iPhone and Galaxy were duking it out for the title of ‘best smartphone,’ Nokia’s 2000s-era cellphones were practically unavoidable. The rectangular devices remain a nostalgia-inducing piece of Y2K tech, and lately the iconic Finnish brand has been reimagining its classic mobile devices for the modern day.

Nokia’s latest bit of old-school cool is the 5710 XpressAudio. As opposed to the full touchscreen displays we’ve grown accustomed to, this unique phone features a 2.4” display and classic T9 keypad, so it’s truly a blast from the past. But the element that truly sets this phone apart from anything old or new is that it serves as a charging case for a built-in included pair of wireless earbuds that are accessed via a sliding panel on the rear of the phone. As far as the buds are concerned, they provide up to four hours of music playback or over two hours of call time per charge.

While Nokia doesn’t mention whether the 5710 will support listening capabilities through popular streaming services, it is Bluetooth compatible and also features a built-in wireless FM radio that lets you tune in to your favorite songs, radio shows, or sports broadcasts. It also features a built-in MP3 player that requires a sold-separately MicroSD card full of songs to operate. And seeing as this phone is all about optimizing your listening time, it has adjustable EQ settings, too.

If you’re in need of a straightforward phone that makes calls, sends messages, and plays songs — and, yes, plays Snake — then this will check every box. Release information regarding the Nokia 5710 XpressAudio is sparse, but you can sign up for future updates on the gadgeteer’s website.
