Despite common stereotypes, not all surfers are free-spirits with nothing but time on their hands. In fact, many of us are extremely busy with life and work; trying to sneak in a surf whenever possible. Ironically enough, it’s for these occasions that we actually need time on our hands. That’s where Nixon’s smartwatch comes into play.

The California-based company just released their rugged Nixon Mission watch. This Android Wear smartwatch features a round face made from polycarbonate and stainless steel. Also featured is an AMOLED display, protected by Gorilla Glass. It’s most notable feature, however, and a perk for watermen the world over, is its water resistant rating of 100 meters. Nixon claims this is the highest waterproof rating of any smartwatch on the market. The Mission, being the smartwatch that it is, also works in coordination with custom apps to track activity in real time. It’s also one of the first watches to run on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Wear 2100, now 30 percent smaller and uses 25 percent less power than the previous model. The Mission is set for release this year though there’s still no word on pricing. However, you can get notified by Nixon when they become available. [Purchase]
