A half-century roaming the roads is no small feat for any model. Five decades of cruising calls for celebration, and Nissan is commemorating their model GT-R’s semicentennial the only way they know how – by rolling out a car. But this is no commercial vehicle – instead, Nissan has collaborated with the Italian masters at Italdesign to create their fabulous new prototype, a celebratory car they’re calling the Nissan GT-R50.
The supercar version of the 2018 GT-R Nismo, the new GT-R50 harbors a 3.8-liter twin-turbo V6 as its innards. Everything on this car has been amplified; the engine features NISMO upgrades with larger turbos and intercoolers, and enlarged pistons help the sports car produce 710 hp at 7100 rpm. Twenty-one inch wheels, a carbon-black and leather interior bolster this bad boy. On the backside, a McLaren-style wing and carbon fiber diffuser give the car an obvious racing appeal, and a dapper “Liquid Kinetic Gray” paint job with “Energetic Sigma Gold” trim imbue the GT-R50 an elegant effusiveness that make it one half anniversary treasure to be stored behind glass, the other half an unsaddled stallion that can’t be tamed.
