Nissan Transforms A Caravan Into A High-Tech Mobile Workspace Concept

Back in 2018, Nissan called on UK-based, eco-friendly design firm, Studio Hardie to help transform its e-NV200 electric van into a well-appointed mobile office on wheels known as the “WORKSPACe.” Fast-forward to today, and the Japanese manufacturer has returned to its 2018 concept, constructing its latest rolling office around its sixth-generation NV350 Caravan and appointing the prototype with a host of cutting-edge features and amenities.

Christened the “NV350 Caravan Office Pod Concept,” the van sports uniquely textured sides and rides on Gram Lights off-road wheels wrapped in BFG all-terrain tires. Inside, there’s a dedicated workspace with a desk, onboard mobile WiFI hotspot, an electric sunshade, coffee maker, and a Herman Miller Cosm office chair. Adorned in LED edge lighting, the work pod section of the concept—which is controlled via a smartphone app—can slide out through the rear gate, providing panoramic views of the concept’s surroundings, while its transparent polycarbonate floor provides a glimpse at what lies beneath where the van is parked. Other noteworthy details include a rooftop deck complete with a retractable umbrella, lounge chair, and ladder, a Cellstar Sine Wave DC/AC inverter, and a glovebox equipped with an antibacterial UV light to sanitize its contents.
