The long-awaited next generation in Nissan’s venerated line of Z cars won’t make its official debut until August, but that hasn’t stopped the automotive community from pondering the 400Z’s future. One party who’s having a particularly good time playing around with the 400Z is designer Sugar Design, who has rendered a stunning hatchback version of the car.
The Nissan 400Z Hatchback boasts the now-familiar front end of the upcoming coupe, with its retro-inspired headlights and dramatic rectangular grille, but the rear end is where the fun begins. There, Sugar Design has ditched the fastback design of the sports car in favor of a mini-shooting brake setup. The roofline is now longer, with a less extreme slope, and is accented by a subtle spoiler above the rear windshield before slanting down at a sharper angle to terminate above the taillights. When paired with the lengthy hood, this sporty wagon design looks less like a JDM hot hatch and more like an exotic Euro shooting brake such as the Ferrari FF or GTC4Lusso. In other words, we’d very much like to have one. You can learn more by heading over to Sugar Design’s Instagram page.
