Like that sweet spot on the floor where you consistently knock down 12-foot jumpers, there’s a lot to like about the mid-range. Nikon’s new 1 J5 camera is the company’s newest member of the brand’s mid-range mirrorless J-Series, and for less than $500, it looks great.

The elegant styling is nice, but the specs are what has us intrigued. The 1 J5 features a 20.8 MP, 1″ CX-format CMOS sensor with 105 phase detection auto focus points, and you can shoot 20 frames per second with contuous shooting thanks to its Expeed 5A advanced processing engine. The camera takes 1080/60p videos, and can do 4K resolution video at 15 frames per second. There’s a 180-degree tilting touch screen, full manual control, built-in Wi-Fi and Near Field Communication technology, and three color options. [Purchase]
