Nike has always offered bold, colorful statements, with a number of the brand’s most recent releases sporting an expansive swathe of hues. With designer Virgil Abloh’s iconic Off-White brand taking the opposite approach for a large majority of its catalog, it seems uncanny that the two companies would come together for a star-studded collaboration — but after catching a glimpse of the Terra Kiger 5 running sneaker, we’ve decided to hold our judgment.
The newly introduced Terra Kiger 5 is part of Nike’s ambitious “Athlete in Progress” collection, channeling the unbreakable will of the world’s most renowned track and field athletes to create a silhouette that balances performance and post-run style. A bevy of small, track-oriented running spikes adorn the bottom of the shoe’s Zoom sole, giving it a purposeful feel on and off of the road, while technical lacing anchors and a lightweight upper supply all of the cloud-like support you could ever need. Off-White’s minimalist branding can found on the lace-tag, which secures atop the running shoe’s specially crafted tongue. The Terra Kiger 5 will launch in three colorways — White/Metallic Silver/Sail/Safety Orange, Electric Green/Metallic Silver/Sail, and Black/Metallic Silver/White/Pink Blast — on June 27.
