The Metcon is referred to by many athletes as the “perfect shoe,” and it’s not hard to see why. Making its debut in 2015, each iteration in the series benefits from exceptional upgrades. Improving upon every facet of the fourth model, the Nike Metcon 5 Training Shoes are another work of design wizardry for all-around athletes.

Enlisting the help fo three-time CrossFit Games “Fittest Man on Earth” Mat Fraser and six-time CrossFit Games athlete Lauren Fisher, the Metcon 5 went through over 9,000 hours of intense exercise testing. The shoes have an improved haptic chain-link pattern on the uppers for better performance on rope climbs, ample tongue cushioning, Nike Hyperlift inserts for an additional 8mm lift, and dual-density drop-in midsoles for more flexibility. From burpee box-jumps to lifting heavy weight, you can count on the Metcon 5 to get you through a grueling workout. Nike will also be releasing a Metcon 5 Mat Fraser edition with signature design details to pay tribute to the “Fittest Man on Earth,” such as a racing stripe and triple bullseyes on the heels. There’s no information on pricing for the standard edition, but the Mat Fraser edition will set you back $150. You can pick up a pair of the Metcon 5 shoes on July 8.
