Zion Williamson’s first signature shoe is finally here. The New Orleans Pelicans forward has blossomed in his sophomore year to become one of the NBA’s most dominant inside threats at just 20 years of age, and now he’s got the shoes to match his performance from Nike’s Jordan Brand.
The Jordan Zion 1 is a basketball shoe designed for the high-intensity play of its namesake. The shoe possesses a full-length Air Strobel unit that’s sewn directly into the upper, meaning nothing comes between your foot and the air cushioning. There’s also a Zoom Air unit stacked in the forefoot, adding an extra dose of responsiveness for quick bursts of speed. The multi-directional rubber outsole provides aggressive traction to help you stay in control during Zion-like drives, while higher sidewalls and a 2-loop lace band offer stability and security. The design, meanwhile, evokes a superhero costume at Zion’s request, with a subtle yet distinctive “Z” worked into the pattern. The Jordan Zion 1 is set for release on April 29 for $120 in the black and white colorway, with three other variants to follow in May.
