Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 Auto-Lacing Sneakers

The self-lacing sneaker technology Nike developed for the their Back To The Future inspired Air Mag sneakers isn’t just sitting on a shelf somewhere in Oregon gathering dust – the brand is actually planning to use these power laces in their brand new HyperAdapt 1.0.

The result of serious mechanical and electrical engineering research, these shoes will use ‘adaptive lacing’ to automatically tighten over your foot – just like the ones Marty McFly was sporting in the beloved film. Nike also included two buttons on the side of the shoe to further tighten or loosen the laces. The thinking behind this innovation in lacing is that it will allow athletes to be able to make micro adjustments to the fit of their shoes while they’re on the fly. The shoes will be made available to Nike+ members towards the end of this year. Start saving now, and check out the video below.
