Designed as an intentional departure from the conventional country club-style tennis digs of the era, Nike’s original Challenge Court Collection from the late 1990s was a loud and in-your-face lineup of gear and apparel, famously worn by Andre Agassi in the years surrounding the peak of his career. And with the demand of nostalgic 1990s-inspired offerings at an all-time high (at least outside of the 1990s itself), the activewear brand is leaning into the trend with a relaunch of the Challenge Court Collection for 2020.
Borrowing heavily from existing items in the Nike catalog from some three decades ago, the new Challenge Court Collection combines unmistakable ‘90s colors and designs with modern materials and construction techniques. Boasting items for both men and women, the collection consist of several shoe models, athletic shorts, shirts, and windbreakers — all of which are clad in off-neon hues and other color pallets that haven’t been fashionable for a cool 30 years. Pricing has yet to be revealed, though the entire collection became available to Nike members on August 17. A release to the general public is scheduled for a week later on August 24.
