Nike Taps Kim Jones For A Retro-Inspired Air Max 95 Made With Modern Materials

Nike and London-based fashion designer Kim Jones have a longstanding working relationship that started all the way back in 2016. Over the years, the pair have come out with a number of notable releases, including everything from Jones’ punk-inspired “Football Reimagined” footwear to a pair of Dior-branded Jordan 1’s at the start of 2020.

For their latest collaborative effort, the Big Swoosh has looked to Kim Jones for his take on the iconic Air Max 95, with the end result being a shoe rich in Max Air heritage. For instance, up top, he’s treated it to a perforated upper inspired by the Air Max 360 and done up in a colorway that pays homage to the original Air Max 95. And while Jones hasn’t opted to change the shoe’s anatomy-inspired overlays, he has covered them in some translucent Nexkin eye stays found on running shoes like the Zoom Fly SP and React Element 87. Finished off in a sweet inverted gradient design with a classic mini-Swoosh on the toe and a Kim Jones insignia on the heel, this is one sneaker drop that you won’t want to miss. They’ll go up for sale on the Nike SNKRS site starting March 19th for $220.
