Nike Revives A 1979 Running Shoe Classic With The Updated 2020 Challenger OG

With an expansive five and a half decade-long history, Nike has no shortage of iconic footwear models to draw inspiration from when designing new shoes. And after recently releasing its latest iteration of its long-running Pegasus back in Spring — as well as updated versions of the Tailwind, Waffle Racer, and Daybreak — the Oregon-based activewear brand has now revealed an updated version of another running shoe classic with the new and improved 2020 Challenger OG.

A Contemporary take on the original Challenger, this 2020 version retains the 1979 model’s nylon, suede, and mesh upper combo, while now sporting a wider heel for improved comfort. The classic model’s unique rubber-construction mini-stud soles are also found lining the bottom of this updated version. Nike has also revived numerous throwback colorways for the Challenger OG, while also introducing several novel color schemes on the updated runner. Pricing and an official release date have yet to be announced, though Nike says the 2020 Challenger OG is slated for a release later this summer on the company’s website and app. For more information or to see more photos, you can check out the link to Nike’s website below.
