Beginning with a single location in Berkeley, Amoeba Music is an iconic independent music megastore company that’s managed to survive the marked decline in popularity of physical media. With two additional locations in Hollywood and San Francisco, Amoeba is something of a cultural institution, beloved by multiple generations of music enthusiasts. In a bid to honor Amoeba’s cultural impact over the last 30 years, Los Angeles-based clothing and streetwear outfit, Nice Kicks has teamed up with the famed record stores to deliver a limited-edition capsule collection of footwear and apparel.
Comprised of a baker’s dozen new items, the capsule is anchored by two custom versions of the New Balance 992 sneaker, both adorned in colorways inspired by Amoeba’s logo and featuring the words “Peace” and “Music” across the heels (from Amoeba’s “Peace Through Music” slogan). The collection also includes a trucker hat, two pairs of nylon shorts, four t-shirts, a crewneck, two cotton hoodies, and a matching pair of sweat pants — all of which feature both Amoeba and Nice Kicks branding. What’s more, these items include premium touches such as 450 GSM cotton fabric constructions, embroidered logos, and glow-in-the-dark elements. Available now, the Nice Kicks x Amoeba Music Capsule Collection starts at $33 and goes up to $240 for the special edition 992 shoes.
