New Balance and J. Crew have a beneficial past together, bringing one of the most iconic sneaker silhouettes ever conceived to the masses. Now, the companies are coming back together to reintroduce their nostalgic 1400 — a pair of subtle sneakers primed to rock two unique colorways.
While the aforementioned 1400 was originally popularized following its 1994 launch, the shoe has been revived a number of times since. For this round, the freshly announced NB x J. Crew collaboration features both a Navy Steel and Navy with White variant of the classic 1400, both of which are inspired by the melancholic color palette of the midnight sky, moonless nights, and evening expeditions. Each shoe will be comprised of suede and mesh uppers, a retro gum sole, and iconic details that harken back to the shoe’s early ‘90s launch while retaining the same minimalistic silhouette for which J. Crew has become known. The 1400s are available now via New Balance & J. Crew’s respective websites for $180.
