With the introduction of new materials, new processes, and new styles, the sneakers of late have been making a pretty radical departure from more classic styles. The New Balance 247, however, has managed to strike an interesting balance between classic and new age.
The Boston-based running brand’s new shoe draws heavily from the classic silhouettes, but with a fresh new twist. Much like the 1300 JP, the forefoot throat features the company’s classic branded “N”, but embossed into a full grain Nubuck leather as opposed to the usual stand-out 3M material. The toe box made from a heavily perforated teal nubuck leather, the shoe’s most stand-out feature, is also reminiscent of the classic 576. These subtle changes combined with the sock-like ankle on the shoe make for a minimalist and modern finish that gives the sneaker some pop. As if that wasn’t enough, when this silhouette’s inaugural colorway drops it’ll also come with a luxury leather passport and bag. Unfortunately these will only be available to friends and family of the brand. [H/T: Sneaker News]
