When it comes to backpacking, sleeping under the stars is really the way to go. Not only does it mean that you get to enjoy nature’s panoramic views 24 hours a day, but it means lugging less equipment out into the woods with you. One thing open-air camping doesn’t afford you, however, is safety from pesky bugs. That is where the Nemo Escape Pod comes in.

Super light and paired-down, this bivy is designed to provide shelter to half your body while sleeping at night. Using just a simple inflatable airbeam to raise the sheer netting above your head, it’s easy to pack and amazingly light at just 11 ounces. For rough forest-floors, the bottom of the pod is made with a 30 Denier ripstop nylon while the upper is made from a 15D mesh. Prices start at $120. [Purchase]
