For the last several years, NASA has been preparing for an ambitious 2020 mission in which it will send its $2.4B Perseverance Rover to Mars, where it will touchdown on the Jezero crater before exploring the red planet. After what seemed like an endless preparation process, the rover has officially been launched into space from the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, where it’s currently en route to Mars. To celebrate the occasion, NASA has linked up with ANICORN for a limited edition “Mars Mission” capsule collection.
Alongside a puzzle, a skate deck, a bracelet, football, basketball, T-shirts, and a sling bag, the capsule’s crown jewel is the “Mars Time” watch. Water-resistant to 50-meters, the watch features a 42mm 316L stainless steel case that houses a Miyota 9015 automatic movement and is paired with a silver bracelet or NATO-style band. On top of an overall space-age-themed aesthetic, the watch boasts numerous nods to the ongoing mission, as well as NASA branding throughout. Sold with a NASA embroidered patch and a metal warranty card, the watch is priced at $895 and is limited to 200 units. Unfortunately, all 200 units sold out in a record one minute, though the resale market may be an option.
