Musk Skateboard Guitars
Skateboarding and punk rock have pretty much always gone hand-in-hand, but there hasn’t ever really been a physical embodiment of their symbiotic relationship (outside of, perhaps, the ephemeral Vans Warped Tour). Or at least there wasn’t before Musk started making their Skate Guitars.
Made from actual skateboards, these all-maple electric guitars are one of the more singular takes on the classic instrument we’ve ever come across. And while a purist might decry the use of skate decks as instrument bodies, the folks at Argentina-based Musk embrace the materials for their unique shape, appearance, and sound. Available in two models (which differ in only name, graphics, and single humbucker pickup placement), Musk’s intricate instruments feature a wraparound bridge, silver finished hardware, a satin-finished neck and body, and a 24 3/4″ scale. For fans of aggressive music and extreme sports, there might not be a better instrument out there. Prices are set at $380 each.
