Modernica x Vans Vault Limited Edition Shell Chair

History is filled with iconic, timeless furniture, and we’re sure that as soon as we mention “shell chair,” nostalgic memories of early 1950s interior design run rampant. While Modernica has honed the craft of finely-tailored furnishings for the past 25 years, they’ve decided to team up with Vans — another legendary heritage brand — for a more recent, well-realized collaboration.

As an homage to their west coast roots, Modernica and Vans Vault have teamed up to release a number of limited edition shell chairs that mimic the shoemaker’s classic checkerboard, Hawaiian, and palm colorways. Three high-pressure fiberglass-molded seats will make their debut alongside similarly customized slip-on LX and Style 36 LX Van’s shoe variants, providing consumers with a spring-styled collection that admonishes any thought of winter chill. Modernica’s specialized process of historic fiberglass manufacturing is rather important, as the company’s pursuit of finely-made furniture played a notable role in the preservation of the art during the ‘90s — and since then, the brand has only continued to innovate when it comes to construction and design. The specialized collection of chairs will be available via select Vans Vault retailers nationwide.
