Minaret Station Glacial Lodge in New Zealand

If you’ve seen Lord of the Rings, then you’re probably familiar with New Zealand’s staggering beauty. From jagged and cragged mountains that tower to the sun, to valleys of grass and winding rivers that stretch as far as the eye can see, you can experience the cinema-worthy scenery by staying at the Minaret Station Glacial Resort.

The alpine lodge is located at the bottom of a valley, in a region that requires a helicopter to access. The luxurious lodge divides into individual chalets, and while quiet and secluded, you won’t be trapped at the bottom of a hill throughout your stay at Minaret Station. A helicopter provides access to wondrous outdoor activities like Heli-Skiing in the winter, hiking in the summer, mountain climbing during any season, as well as hunting and fishing. Experienced pilots will commandeer one of Minaret Station’s fleet of alpine helicopters to ferry you to the top of a snow-covered hillside. Or, if the summer sun is out, a helicopter can take you on a Fiordland adventure through the air, giving you access to breathtaking scenery in the land that portrayed the mystical Middle Earth.
