Mercedes-Benz X-Class MDX Camper By Matzker
Just because the Mercedes-Benz X-Class is considered a “luxury pickup,” that doesn’t mean it can’t handle its own both on and off the road. In fact, it can be gorgeously transformed into a marvelous overlander with the right equipment, which we learned by discovering Matzker’s MDX Camper you see before you.
Externally, the MDX is a handsome ride, its angular camper blending neatly with the vehicle’s cabin thanks to a small rooftop rack with an LED light bar and some clever paintwork. But the exterior is hardly the most exciting part, as the most interesting stuff can be found once you open the camper’s gullwing-style doors. Inside, you’ll find a kitchenette with a two-burner stove, sink, pull-out fridge, and plenty of storage for food and supplies. There’s also an area for seating during meals, which doubles as a sleeping space, and a pop-up roof (with the option for a roof-level bed) that allows for fully-grown adults to stand completely upright next to zip-open cloth walls for better ventilation. To cope with the additions, Matzker equipped the X-Class with a higher suspension and a rear locking differential, making this $205,000 overlander one of the best you can get.
