With the automotive market’s growing interest in SUV offerings, it comes as no surprise to see officially sanctioned concepts being released by some of the industry’s biggest manufacturers. The renowned builders at Mercedes-Benz are the most recent to join the fray, introducing a sleek and spacious SUV dubbed the Concept GLB.
The robust 224-horsepower vehicle was officially unveiled at this year’s Auto Shanghai, a gathering of the automotive world’s biggest players. To satiate the customer’s need for an SUV that could provide enough space for up to seven occupants, offer a longer wheelbase, and inherit the tasteful, luxurious attributes of the brand’s popular GLA and GLC lines, Mercedes-Benz returned to the drawing board to devise the new vehicle. Utilizing a muscular, accented exterior, MULTIBEAM LED headlamps, redefined front and rear overhangs, a large greenhouse-like interior, and protective cladding, the Concept GLB finds inspiration through off-road endeavors and genealogy. A Designo Cashmere White Magno paint and high-gloss black components compliment the vehicle’s chrome rear and front underguards, while inside, premium nubuck leather attributes, trim, and open-pored walnut adorn the GLB’s dash and seating. We’ll have to wait for more info on the potential release, but pricing should be below the GLC’s $40,700 entry point.
