With its boxy styling, body-on-frame build, and trio of locking differentials, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class has all the elements required of a top-performing 4×4. However, in spite of its incredible all-terrain potential, these days, the SUV is much more common in valet parking than it is off the beaten path. A travesty for many auto enthusiasts, but if your name is Mansory, it’s just fine.
That’s because for its latest build, the German-based tuner has turned the utilitarian G-Class into a carbon-clad performance machine called ‘Gronos.’ Under the hood, the twin-turbo 4.0L V8 has gotten a significant boost in power, so where the stock car made some 577 horses and 627lb-ft of torque, it’s now good for 850hp and 738lb-ft of torque. In practice, this means that it’ll do 0-62mph in just 3.5s, and while the top speed is limited at 155mph, rest assured there’s more in the tank. Inside, you’ll find an ultra-luxe interior upholstered in ‘Fawn Brown’ complete with contrasting carbon inlays and some sporty billet aluminum race pedals. Finished off in some British Racing Green paint with a new hood, front and rear aprons, and some added width, it’s a build that’s undeniably Mansory. Contact the tuner for pricing and availability.
