‘Men In Black: International’ Promises Big Guns And Bad Aliens

It’s been over 20 years since we first saw Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones don their iconic black suits and wayfarer sunglasses in the first Men In Black film. And though there’s been a bit of turmoil for the franchise since then — including a pair of widely-panned sequels and a failed attempt at a 21 Jump Street crossover — it looks as though the ship has been righted, at least if this Men In Black: International trailer is to be believed.

More of a spin-off than a reboot, MIB: International stars Tessa Thompson as the cocky-yet-capable rookie, Agent M, to Chris Hemsworth’s also-cocky-but-far-more-experienced veteran, Agent H. And while all the familiar franchise pillars are present — including plenty of intergalactic alien scum, souped-up supersonic motor vehicles, over-the-top transforming weaponry, and comedic quips — it also looks like the filmmakers have injected this new entry in the sci-fi series with enough new creatures, locales, and lore to keep things fresh and interesting. Of course, we’ll have to wait until it hits theaters on June 14th to know for sure whether this one is a dud or a diamond.
