Matthew McConaughey Built A Wild Turkey Solar Cabin In Australia

While modern technology has enabled mankind to be more connected to the news, media, and social networks than ever before, it’s also pushed humanity further and further from nature. And this is the idea that ultimately prompted whiskey distillery Wild Turkey to join forces with actor Matthew McConaughey and Unyoked to build an off-the-grid cabin designed to help its inhabitants reconnect with the wilderness.

The small, structure is capped off with a tracked, industrial metal roof — complete with solar panels – and barn-style sliding door. Inside the cabin, a dark woodgrain adorns the floors, walls, ceilings, and the entirety of the integrated furniture that’s been incorporated into the design. A large bed — also incorporated into the construction — rests in the corner of the building with floor-to-ceiling windows running along the bottom and side. The cabin also packs two sinks and an array of hidden, folding compartments, including a hinged panel that reveals a half-flushed high-ball glass, shaker set, and bottle of the Kentucky-based distillery’s small-batch, Texas mesquite-refined Long Branch straight bourbon of McConaughey’s own creation. Sales of the said whiskey will also benefit the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife — a charity dedicated to preserving Australia’s shrinking wilderness.
