As it stands right now, six actors — Adam West, Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer, George Clooney, Christian Bale, and Ben Affleck — have portrayed comic book hero Batman in live-action television and movies. But they’re about to be joined by a seventh, Robert Pattinson, in Matt Reeves’ upcoming flick, The Batman. And with a new Batman comes, of course, a new Batmobile.
While we know this story is said to be a new tale of the Dark Knight’s origin and it is to costar Zoë Kravitz and Colin Ferrel (as Catwoman and The Penguin, respectively), much of this new flick is still shrouded in mystery. However, the director just shared photos of this interpretation’s faithful steed and it is jaw-dropping, to say the least. It’s hard to say exactly what’s going on in these moody images, but it looks like this version of the Batmobile may be based on a heavily-altered American muscle car (possibly based on an early Dodge Charger) — compete with stripped-down bodywork and a rear-mounted engine. Either way, we’re certainly interested to see in what direction this talked-about reboot heads.
