Matador’s New Packable ‘Advanced’ Bags Are 7 Times Stronger Than Steel

Matador already made some of the most adventure-ready bags on the market, but now the brand has really stepped up their game with five new additions of their top-of-the-line Advanced Series.

The new Matador Advanced Series products include the Freerain Waterproof Packable Backpack in 22 and 28L sizes, Freefly 16L Packable Backpack, Freefly Packable Duffle, and Freefly Waterproof Packable Hip Pack. All of the bags feature high-wear panels reinforced with UHMWPE (ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene), a fiber with a strength-to-weight ratio that’s seven times greater than structural steel. The fabric has also been treated with a UTS coating to improve weather resistance and durability. The Freerain and Freefly backpacks feature loads of alpinist features, like gear loops and shockcord captures. The weatherproof Freefly Duffle can hold 30L of gear in a variety of pockets, and the Freefly Hip Pack is a fully waterproof compact storage solution that can be worn as a sling bag or a fanny pack. The entire collection is available now from Matador, ranging in price from $60 for the Hip Pack to $125 for the Freerain 28L Backpack.
