Marvel’s ‘WandaVision’ Blends Classic TV Nostalgia With Mind-Bending Super Thrills
Having made appearances in the last several Avengers movies, Wanda Maximoff a.k.a. Scarlet Witch and her android counterpart Vision are now due for their own share of the Marvel Universe spotlight. For the uninitiated, Scarlet Witch made a historic sacrifice in the penultimate Avengers film, ultimately costing Vision his life. Though his fate was thought to be sealed with the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame, we’re getting a look at a post-Thanos world in which he seems to have returned.
Dubbed WandaVision, the new show will be the first series from Marvel Studios to hit the Disney+ streaming platform. Elizabeth Olsen (Avengers, Godzilla) returns as Scarlett Witch and Paul Bettany (Avengers, A Knight’s Tale, A Beautiful Mind) as Vision. Combining a nostalgic classic TV aesthetic with a super-powered Marvel world, the series takes a deep dive into the duo’s mysterious relationship. At first glance, the couple appears to be living idealized suburban lives, but as things begin to unravel around them, they suspect that everything is not as it seems. Featuring throwback costumes, mind-bending plot lines, and a pair of super sweethearts, WandaVision is one series you won’t want to miss. Though no official date has been announced, it drops soon.
