The Marathon Pilot’s Navigator Date is a watch that was created out of need, designed to withstand the high altitudes and extreme pressure changes faced by pilots and parachutists on a daily basis. As such, it might seem an odd choice for a J.Crew collab, but it’s a piece that comes at the perfect moment for the men’s fashion brand to dive head-on into its new direction.
Admittedly, it’s only a visual makeover; however, it’s one that’s been executed in typical J.Crew-clean fashion. The Navigator Date’s 41mm fibershell case, for instance, comes in an exclusive navy hue, offering a welcome break from Marathon’s characteristic mil-spec colors. What’s more, J.Crew has swapped out the numerals on the dial in favor of some minimalist diver-style dots, also fitting the piece with a matching navy and sky blue NATO strap. Built with the same 3-jewel ETA F06 quartz movement, sapphire crystal, tritium tubes, and 6ATM of water resistance as the standard timepiece, it’s made only better by the subtle co-branded packaging.
