Despite the advancements in materials, most winter jackets are still constructed using relatively dated techniques and technologies, though MAMMUT now aims to change that via the release of a new limited edition, laser-welded, waterproof down hardshell jacket.
Dubbed the “Photics Hard Shell Thermo Hooded Jacket,” the limited-edition offering features a fully-waterproof MAMMUT DRYtechnology membrane paired with 247 grams of goose down fill. The cutting-edge garment utilizes the Swiss outfit’s Laser Fuse Technology which replaces traditional stitched seams, ridding the jacket of the pinholes created when sticking, ultimately resulting in completely sealed seams that won’t let water seep in, or down fill leak out. Other noteworthy elements on the down jacket include hook-and-loop-adjusted cuffs, a fixed, down-filled hood, water-repellent YKK zippers, an adjustable hem, and MAMMUT’s Georganic 3D Technology T Shape Pattern which allows for an optimized fit. Limited to only 500 units upon its initial launch, the 2019 ISPO Award-winning MAMMUT Photics Hard Shell Thermo Hooded Jacket has been priced at $899.
