This Retro Video Game Console Is An Homage To Bauhaus & Dieter Rams

Love Hulten has made a habit of crafting some of the most beautifully-designed retro gaming consoles ever. But they’re not an island, having drawn inspiration from some of the most influential designers of all time. In fact, their latest work pays homage to just such a designer, Dieter Rams, and the Bauhaus minimalist movement as a whole.

Though the name of the console is quite a mouthful, the R-Kaid-R SK-4, the device itself is a pared-down thing of beauty. Inspired directly by Rams’ designs from his work with Braun — specifically the SK-4 record player and T3 pocket radio — the standalone portable unit (which closes up like a briefcase, features its own screen, built-in speaker, and arcade-style controls. It also has an onboard computer capable of storing 10,000 game emulations and 10 straight hours of playtime. Unfortunately, it looks like Love Hulten will not be offering this gorgeous video game homage for sale.
